Why 'Gunship'?
There's multiple reasons 'Doujin Group Gunship' was chosen as our group name! All of them are interesting to me from a behind the scenes standpoint so I thought I'd mention them.
☆
The most obvious reason is the word composition: Gun[dam] + ship[ping]
As we are a Gundam group and derivative work like this often centers around shipping and various canon and non-canon pairings, just as 'Gunpla' tells you exactly what it is (Gundam + plamo), 'Gunship' is basically our group's definition right on the tin.
Doujin Group was added as well because 'Doujin Group Gunship' and 'Mobile Suit Gundam' have the same amount of syllables and the same general inflection/vocal rhythm when said aloud.
Gunship is also partially a reference to the Gundam Fan Club magazine from the early 1980s, GunSight. In the original Super Dimension Force Macross, 'Gunsight-1' is the callsign for the SDF-1's bridge as people who worked on GunSight went on to create Macross.
Also, a gunship is a real thing used in Mobile Suit Gundam.
There's actually one used and seen in 08th MS Team (1996), though Battleship Heli is also a term used. I also thought naming our group after an attack helicopter would be funny in an LGBT way, you know? Kinda ironic? Or at least referential to stupid phrases.

eCharmony was also considered. I want everyone to acknowedge the great amount of restraint that went into NOT naming this doujin group eCharmony.
